Tangentially relevant QotD to yesterday's post

questionoftheday asks: Have you ever run into a former crush or love interest, and wondered what you ever saw in them? (question submitted by author_by_night)

My answer:

It certainly applies to an ex-boyfriend, whom I got together with shortly after separating from the ex-spouse. Basically he was a tall skinny nerd with long hair, which is what I find physically attractive. Unfortunately that was about it for what he had going for him... nice guy (in the sense he at least wasn't violently abusive or other such things), but not what I was looking for.

I did see him a few years after we split, when I was prepping to leave Georgia (during the first cut of sorting through my endless piles of boxes) and found a whole bunch of his stuff in amongst my stuff. So I drove it over to him and we had dinner, and that was the last I saw or heard from him. I'd still call him a friend if we ever came back into contact, but he was a lot more interested in me than I ever was in him (and I said so, right at the beginning), and that can be really hard to recover from, so I'm not expecting to hear from him again.
