Summary of Recent Dragcave Drama

In the beginning, a new rule came into being, about how we are no longer allowed to "help" other people's dragons by posting them places, unless we have their permission. This rule is now written into the Terms and Conditions. The rule makes sense for preventing irresponsible breeders from being a little too helpful, and causing high-view softshell deaths of other people's dragons.

Unfortunately, the rule unfairly punishes those breeders who have been responsible about not inadvertently killing off their offspring on other people's scrolls.

The rule also unexpectedly works against people who are trying to make lineage trees with active linked images to ancestors and descendants not on their own scroll. [livejournal.com profile] gryffinrose was an example of that last week, and while her site is no longer banned, she's not putting all her helpful resources back up until she is certain she won't be banned again.

Furthermore, people who had posted their eggs to a place before abandoning it, and then forgot to take those down, are causing troubles with whole communities being banned. GaiaOnline's Dragcave Sanctuary was an example of that last night.

Therefore, LJ Dragonspam is now observing an exceptionally restrictive rule against posting any eggs or hatchlings that are not your own, at all, not even your own spouse's/kids'. It stays in effect until we can get some clarification from TJ about how to avoid getting ourselves banned the way Gaia was.

Unrelated to the above, but happening at the same time, summer turned to fall and a new dragon pattern was supposed to be released. Unfortunately, TJ's fall dragons died. Because he simply must be the first to have every adult dragon that appears in Dragcave, and because he doesn't have his yet, he's removed the autumn eggs from everyone else's scrolls. Twice. Once yesterday morning, and once this afternoon.

Also unrelated to the above, the hosts of the Dragcave forum complained about too much bandwidth usage. This means that the forum has been mostly offline for the past two days.

Also unrelated to the above, Dragcave itself is having lag issues again too.

Thus we have lots of people mad about lots of different things at once.

Me, I've decided that for the sake of my own sanity, I'm reverting back to the simple pleasures of when I first started here. I have stopped breeding entirely, and I'm only collecting and raising my own stolen eggs. Hopefully the fallout from the above drama will settle and we can go back to having a good time here again.
